Air Force Corrosion Prevention & Control Office

Impact of Corrosion

Corrosion cost the Air Force over $1.5 billion per year (2004 data) -- over 4% of the Air Force's total operations and maintenance budget -- and reduces operational safety, performance, and readiness.

About Us

The AFCPCO manages the Air Force's Corrosion program and is the Air Force's single focal point for all system corrosion guidance and policy.  Our customers are Air Force field units, connand-level corrosion managers, depots, and system program managers.  We are also the representative to the rest of the corrosion community, including other services and industry.  We support our customers in implementing and conducting the best possible corrosion prevention and control programs to maximize AF combat capability.

We provide direct technical and engineering assistance to customers across the Air Force.  Issues are resolved quickly and efficiently and solutions are disseminated rapidly throughout the Air Force corrosion community.  We ensure that consistent programs are implemented across weapon systems and MAJCOMs and that new technology is effectively transitioned to users.
